Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging, where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.
Instead of X-ray film, digital radiography uses a digital image capture device. This gives advantages of immediate image preview and availability; elimination of costly film processing steps; a wider dynamic range, which makes it more forgiving for over- and under-exposure; as well as the ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance overall display of the image.
The Vita Easyshade shade matching system is a computerized spectrophotometer that easily replicates tooth shades for color matching. This allows for careful color matching in cosmetic applications. We can quickly determine the basic tooth shade and various color zones. Light waves are sent into the tooth and either refracted or reflected back to the receiver in the spectrometer, which then determines shade, hue, chroma, and value.
One of the ways we help patients our relax is to take their mind away from the procedure during treatment. Our 22” LCD screens allow us show you your x-rays and intraoral images, or educational videos. Of course, you can also choose to view a movie on DVD, watch your favorite TV show, or listen to music on satellite radio during treatment. We’ve had patients who have asked to stay just a bit longer in their chair in order to finish their movie! A less stressed patient is a joy to work on.
