YOUR FIRST VISIT

What to Expect

We are all here for one reason – to see that you get what you came for and that you have a comfortable and pleasant experience while you’re with us. Even if it’s been years since you’ve seen the dentist, don’t worry. We’ll take good care of you and get you started on your journey to a great smile.  We want you to be able to eat your favorite foods, chew easily, and smile with confidence.

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A CONSULTATION.

Your first visit is a very important one so please reserve enough time in your schedule.  Depending on the complexity of your dental condition, this appointment can last anywhere between 2 to 3 hours.  Because this appointment takes up a large amount of time, we ask that you notify us at least 48 hours in advance if you need to reschedule this appointment.  Failure to do so may result in a broken appointment fee ($100) or dismissal from the practice.  We understand that unexpected emergencies do happen so in order to avoid a broken appointment fee or dismissal, please notify us as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment.

There are several things that you can count on when you first visit our office.  To begin, there is the paperwork.  While we certainly try not to make this part too overwhelming, there is important information that we need to know about you as well as some things you need to know about our office.

All forms are available on this website under the Forms section.  Simply click the Online Forms link to go to our secure online portal to fill these out.  Or, if you prefer, we can mail them to you.

We ask that you complete the paperwork prior to your appointment.  If you are unable to complete the forms in advance, you can arrive at our office at least 15-20 minutes early to get them completed.  Please note that your appointment time does not include the time needed to complete this paperwork so it is important to complete this before your scheduled appointment time.

Once these are completed and reviewed, you will be brought back to your operatory.  As you enter the hallway, you will be greeted by a soothing hand-painted waterfall.  In fact, all of our rooms are designed with your comfort in mind. Whether you are getting your teeth cleaned in our serene Garden Room or getting a filling in our relaxing Zen Room, the theme of each treatment room along with our gentle caring approach strive to remove the stress and anxiety that can accompany a dental visit.

Your first visit will include:

  • An interview with a team member
  • Photographs of the teeth and gums
  • Necessary X-rays and diagnostic materials
  • A thorough examination of your gums, surrounding bone, and teeth — an examination that includes oral cancer and TMJ screenings (TMJ is the joint that is involved in your chewing function.)
  • A discussion of your individualized needs with the doctor

Based on the exam findings, we will schedule the appropriate hygiene visit for you.  Gum disease is a serious bacterial infection that is associated with heart disease and stroke.  Therefore, our hygienist, Amy, pays particular attention to seeing that the foundation of your smile is healthy.  Sometimes we are able to complete your hygiene visit at this first appointment but this is not guaranteed.

At all times you will be clear on your personal treatment recommendations and payment options.  We will gladly help you utilize your insurance benefits, and a treatment plan will be presented to you.  You can go as fast or as slow as you like.

A healthy, fresh, and beautiful smile is our main focus, and we want you to know that we will not compromise on your care. We look forward to helping you acquire the smile you desire.
